UNESCO world heritage sites
with this section i hope to provide as much information as possible about all of the UNESCO world heritage sites in japan.
there are over 60 sites in japan. from shiretoko national park (知床国立公園) on the chilly northernmost island of hokkaido, which was named as such by the native people of the island, the ainu. to the gusuku sites and related properties of the kingdom of ryukyu (琉球王国のグスク及び関連遺産群) on the tropical island of okinawa, which date back to the 14th century. this kingdom acted as a trading hub between china and japan.
documenting, photographing, and video taping every site in japan should take some time. however, i hope you find this information useful and it will inspire you to visit these wonderful locations for yourself! ^^
