if you find yourself in osaka, then you must spend one evening in the namba (なんば or 難波) area at a spot called dotombori (道頓堀).
the sites, whether its people with crazy fashion or the retina-burning neon lights, will undoubtedly be seared into your memories. which is great! :) on my first trip to japan my guest made sure to bring me here, and to this day i have not forgotten the glutenous flow of cerebral stimulation.
the first photo in this post is of dotombori on a a rainy day during my first trip. the same spot about 1.5 years later, while living in japan.

the famed nampa/namba hashi. the sign with a running man, glico man, is an icon and has been there since 1935!

looking in the same direction, from the other side of the bridge.

one of the many side streets. each is unique and interesting on its own. there are many restaurants and bars in this area. for some reason this street was particularly green and blue.

another side street, with hidden restaurants.

probably the best set of window displays i have seen.
